First spotted in A/B tests in early June, “Study Together” appears alongside tools like web browsing and DALL·E. It’s not yet functional, but UI clues suggest it could guide users through topics with bite-sized explanations, self-assessment questions, and feedback. Reports from TestingCatalog and others hint at both solo and collaborative study potential.
Its presence positions ChatGPT closer to an active tutoring experience rather than passive Q&A. That would mark a strategic shift into the education space, where competitors like Claude and Khanmigo are also building AI-powered learning companions. For now, “Study Together” remains a visible but silent feature—its fate unclear as OpenAI weighs its next move.
